WHAT IS JEUVEAU™?
Pronounced Jev-Oh (the name rhymes with hello), Jeuveau is the newest wrinkle-smoothing injectable toxin (a.k.a. “NEWTOX”). It is the fourth Botox-like product on the market. It has been FDA approved to temporarily reduce frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults and has been extensively tested. It has support from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Studies have shown it is just as safe and effective as Botox®.
WHAT SETS JEUVEAU APART?
Jeuveau uses a different toxin than Botox botulinum toxin but is a “purified” form (and is the only one designed specifically for cosmetic purposes). Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin can also be used to treat medical conditions like facial and neck spasms, migraines, and excessive sweating, but Jeuveau’s only purpose is to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE?
Ideal candidates are patients who are seeking a nonsurgical, temporary wrinkle-smoothing treatment and those who want to prevent new wrinkles from forming. Patients should not receive Jeuveau if they are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy, are allergic to any of the ingredients in Jeuveau, had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product, or have a skin infection at the planned injection site.
WHAT SHOULD BE EXPECTED DURING TREATMENT?
Jeuveau does not require topical numbing. The provider will make precise injections into the muscles that are causing the muscles to contract and create wrinkles. After a few days, Jeuveau will block communication between the nerves and wrinkle-causing muscles, creating a more refreshed and relaxed appearance.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Typically, there is no downtime associated with the treatment. Some patients can experience some redness and/or discomfort at the injection sites. This should resolve within a few hours. Results can be seen within a week of the injections, but do vary.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
Like Botox, results vary but should last three months or longer.
